San Antonio Trip!

This past weekend we took our first trip to San Antonio with Aubrey to introduce her to all her extended family. We had a blast even though it was a very short trip!

The drive up there typically takes 5 hours but I think it took us close to 7 because we had to stop for lunch and feed baby girl. And then she had a complete break-down when we got to the outskirts of San Antonio so we had to pull over in a parking lot and change her diaper and just walk around for a bit to calm her down. Overall though she did do really well on the drive, I just had to keep her distracted with toys, music, and baby einstein shows on utube on my phone.

Once there she got to meet her Great Grandpa Rosel and got to see Great Grandma Rosel again. At first she wasn't to sure of her new surroundings and clung to me and her grandma but then she loosened up and was all smiles. She did a mini photoshoot at the request of her Great Grandpa that consisted of her with a few of his many marine items. She had a blast and it made Great Grandpa extremely happy and proud of his first Great Granddaughter.

While in San Antonio she got to meet many cousins, aunts, and uncles. She was introduced to her Momo and Popo (Great Grandma and Great Grandpa on my dad's side). She just watched everyone intensly and was taking in everything and everyone. She found several family members just hilarious.

Aubrey also went for her first swim in Great Grandpa Rosel's pool. Her Aunt Tunisha, cousin Molly and Mrs Lisa joined us for a swim. She wasn't to sure what to think of the pool but did seem to like it as long as she knew I was right next to her or holding her up against me. She tolerated her swim floatee pretty well but it was big for her so I did have to keep my hand on her bottom holding her up. She did kick around some but was more interested in just watching Molly and everyone swim. First Swim was successfull but did wear her out.

The drive home went well and she slept most of the trip which was nice. We are glad to be home now and glad to not have any travel plans scheduled for several more months. Hoping her dislike for the car will get better soon, especially since in a month she will be doing my hour commute to and from work daily and I won't have anyone in the back seat to distract her. Looking at investing in a DVD travel system.

4 Months!

On July 14, Aubrey turned 4 months old! I can't believe my baby girl is already 4 months old! This meant it was time to head back to the doctor for shots and to get her weight and height! They reported that she was 13 pounds (25%) and 24" long (28%). She did much better at this appointment and didn't pee on the doctor this time!

So here is what happened this month:

Aubrey was a little social butterfly this month.

She had two play dates, one with Miss. Harper and one with Mr. Dean. It was fun seeing them interact . She would just watch them and I think she was taking notes on their movements and activity. They are going to be daycare buds!

Aubrey Also got to visit with her Great Grandma Moore this month and we got this sweet picture of the 4 generations of Moore's.

She also had her first sleep over with Baby Lily and Miss Caitlin. Two of Dave's old roomates and another fraternity brother drove up to visit us from East Texas to meet Aubrey. We haven't seen these guys in several years and it was nice to catch up. Funny how 3 of the 4 guys have all had girls first and the fourth just hasn't had kids so he could be next. ;) The girls had fun and I cannot wait to see these three girls grow to be the best of friends! It was also nice for the momma's to get catch up on old times. Funny how our conversations have changed from when we were in college.

Then she also had Mr Cail, Mrs. Melissa, Rylie and Ryan visit her from East Texas. These are friends of mine from college. I still remember Rylie as a baby, she's growing up so fast.

She also got a special visit from her Uncle Charles, Aunt Rachel and her two cousins Colton and Ainsley from Houston. The kids were so good with her and enjoyed holding her. Thanks guys for taking the time to come visit us!!!

Aubrey also celebrated her first 4th of July. We celebrated a day early since that was daddy's Sunday. We  just ran errands as a family and got to spend some quality time all together which was so nice! Happy 4th!

Then we ended this month with a trip to Norman, OK. Grandma took the train down here and then road with Aubrey and I back to Norman the next day because Aubrey has decided she does not like the car. We were headed to San Antonio the next week and I wanted to see how she would do on a 3 hour drive before we did a 5 hour drive. Luckily mom was with me because after an hour of being in the car she got extremely fussy and since mom was in the back with her she was able to distract her the remainder of the trip. This was also my first time to have to pack everything I thought she may need....goodness babies need a lot! :) I also became educated on putting the play yard together. Not to hard, luckily!! Aubrey had a blast in OK and was watched over closely by her dog cousin Ginger who decided Aubrey was her baby and everyone needed to ask for permission to hold her and needed to be investigated.

So as you can tell it was a very very busy month!!!

She also has
  • Discovered her toes and likes to hold onto her feet with both hands
  • She is rolling more and more to both sides now consistently
  • purposefully reaching for toys.
  • Tolerating tummy time more and more
  • She babbles a TON now and has discovered her lips and tongue. She does the strangest things with her top lip and creates some crazy sounds. It's funny to watch because when she discovers a new sound that she likes she keeps trying to do it over and over again.
  • She can sit for approximately 15 seconds with her arms down infront of her unassisted.
  • She knows what her bottle looks like and gets very excited when she sees it.
  • She will move her hands away from her mouth when she sees the bottle and will grab the bottle with both hands. Not fully holding it up yet because it is still pretty heavy for her (8 oz bottle).
  • Hates car rides right now
  • Really belly laughing now
  • Smiles when people tell her she's pretty and she gets all bashful which is just flat our adorable!

Pleasant Surprise!

Today I got a delightful surprise! I've been trying to figure out what Aubrey is weighing now since we have not been back to the doctor since her 2 month appointment and are not due to go back until the 16th. I had a feeling she was 12 pounds now but wasn't sure and had no idea how I would figure it out. Well my smart mommy suggested that I weigh myself and then weigh myself holding Aubrey and get the difference. As simple as that is I probably would never have come up with it. ha ha So this morning after breakfast and after her nap I finally remembered to do it. I haven't weighed myself in probably over a month or two. I'm use to seeing a high number, thank you PCOS, so I just prefer to avoid the scale! So this morning I got on the scale and to my surprise I was BELOW my pre-pregnancy weight!!!!! I was down to what I had been after my jaw surgery!!!! HOLY MOLY!!!!! I had to weigh myself again because I was in shock. No way was I seeing these numbers correctly because I have done nothing but breastfeed Aubrey. No way would I get that "lucky", things don't work like that for me. How could this be?? It wasn't until this afternoon that it really hit me. I'm still not to sure and plan on doing some research on if this happens with PCOS but for now I am elated!

Now before you start cursing me out in your head please remember that because of PCOS I have always carried weight in my stomach region (common characteristic of PCOS) and looked pregnant but never could get pregnant. I had gotten so use to people asking the question, "How far along are you?" years before I was ever pregnant. I would say I was considered "overweight" for the past few years and had just pretty much accepted it. Over the years I have tried working out, had a personal trainer, tried so many diets, done various treatments and NOTHING....NOTHING worked. I still remember a doctor telling me how hard it is for people with PCOS to loose weight and keep it off because of what PCOS does to your homones and body. This has been true for me because the last time I lost weight I was on a liquid only diet because that was all I could eat (Jaw Surgery) but that weight came back after...not fully but still a good amount. I could not get pregnant naturally because of the weight and other PCOS symptoms. So to be under my pregnancy weight is a true shocker. I had noticed over the past few weeks that jeans, shorts, and shirts that I haven't been able to wear in years were now fitting again. Most of my pants/shorts are falling off of me now but I didn't think to much of it.

However short lived this weight loss may be it gives me hope that maybe by the grace of God this weight will stay off and/or I will continue to loose and that maybe just maybe we will be able to get pregnant naturally the next time. How I would love this to happen!!! Our fertility doctor said that it was possible that my body would get back in sync and hormones would fall back into normal range after pregnancy but this was highly unlikely. He didn't want me to get my hopes up because in most cases women with my issue have to come back to him the next time they want to conceive. I've already accepted this and am fine with it; but this weight loss is a huge blessing that maybe just maybe we won't! How awesome would that be!!?? I was ready to have weight issues after pregnancy especially after seeing how much I had gained during the pregnancy. I was ready to have issues loosing the weight but never in a trillion years would I have expected to see the number I saw this morning. Praise God!

Now if this is short lived, so be it. I got my miracle, my sweet gift from God and if the weight comes rushing back on after I am done breast feeding so be it. I am just going to live in the now and enjoy this moment. In the picture below I have not been able to wear either the shirt or shorts in about 4 years (I throw nothing away) and now the only place they are tight is in the chest. Very exciting!

And FYI Aubrey is approximately 12-12.5 pounds!! :)
